Believe it or not, this is the first time I have ever bought a Clarins foundation! I received a sample of the Skin Illusion Natural Hydrating Foundation in a glossy magazine, tried it out and really liked it.  The shade in the magazine was a bit darker than I would normally go for but it looked good so I went ahead and ordered a bottle in the same shade. The foundation is in a glass bottle which I really like, there’s something more luxurious about glass rather than plastic, also it’s obviously better for the environment.  I quite like the pipette dropper as it’s easy to put a couple of drops on the back of my hand and then apply to my face. I find a beauty blender is the best way for me to apply this particular foundation (rather than fingers or a brush) as it does have a fairly runny consistency, but it’s silky and applies very easily.

This isn’t a particularly heavy coverage foundation, it’s got a natural look to it, so it might not be what you’re looking for.  I use it over the top of my Trinny London BFF and Look Fabulous Forever concealer and I find that this mixture of products is ideal for a daytime foundation look which will last all day.

When you buy the product, Clarins also gives you a sample of the colour so you can try it first before you open the bottle. If it’s not quite right then you can exchange the bottle for a different shade.  A good idea if you’ve bought from the internet, or in a store with dodgy lighting.

In conclusion, I like this foundation, it suits my mature skin and doesn’t sit in any of the lines or wrinkles.  It’s easy to apply and weightless to wear.
