Clarins Cleansing Milk with Alpine Herbs. My current morning cleanser.

Clarins Cleansing Milk with Alpine Herbs. My current morning cleanser.

What is it? Clarins Cleansing Milk with Alpine Herbs is formulated for gentle water free cleansing and also hydrates and softens. It includes plant extracts from Alpine Herbs, St John’s Wort, Sweet Almond, Marshmallow and Linden, to soothe redness and put moisture back into dry skin. Vitamins A & E help to improve skin quality.

Who is it for? This cleansing milk is suitable for normal/dry skin.  It has a light scent but if you’re averse to any smells in your cleanser you might not like it.

How do you use it? Clarins recommend the following method: “Apply using the Clarins professional cleansing method: 1) Warm the Cleansing Milk between the palms of your hands to bring it up to skin temperature. 2) Apply by simple contact using the entire surface of the hands. Do not apply pressure. 3) Lay the hands flat on the face and neck and remove hands briskly as if the skin were burning hot. 4) Repeat 7 times: the cleansing milk will thicken and sponge away make-up and impurities without irritating or disturbing the tissue. 5) Rinse or wipe off. Apply toner to finish”

What’s the damage? £21 for 200ml (shop around, it’s usually on offer somewhere online)

This cleansing milk takes me back in time, for some reason it reminds me of the cleansers I was using 20/30 years ago when I was sticking to my strict cleanse, tone, moisturise routine.  That isn’t meant as an insult in any way! The 200ml bottle is a really good size, it feels more like a salon version and I like the pump action, it’s easier on a morning when I’m half asleep.

For me, cleansing milks are generally for my morning cleanse.  I don’t feel they are as good at removing makeup or giving me the deep second cleanse I want on an evening.  The method that Clarins recommends is a bit convoluted and some mornings I do forget and just remove the cleanser with cotton wool.

All in all a lovely morning cleanser and if you do have dry skin give it a go.  If you want to try it first, then go to your local Clarins counter and ask for a sample.
