Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Serum – Is it as good as they say?

What is it? It’s full name is Estee Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair Synchronised Recovery Complex II – we will call it ANR! ANR is an anti-aging serum designed to work while you sleep, it targets and reduces lines, wrinkles, dullness and dryness.

Who is it for? Although marketed as an anti-aging product, I would suggest that it can also be used as a preventative. I personally started using this at 29.

How do you use it? ANR is used at the same point in the cleansing process as any other serum; after cleansing and before moisturising. Using the pipette dispenser supplied, apply 2 or 3 drops to the fingertips of one hand, touch the fingertips of both hands together and massage into the skin. This sounds complicated but really distributes the serum evenly around the face and neck.

What’s the damage? £52 for 30ml, £72 for 50ml and £88 for 75ml.

Score: 💋💋💋💋💋

I don’t care if I agree with just about everyone who has ever tried this product, but YES it is definitely as good as they say! ANR consistently makes the “Hero” lists of the likes of Vogue and Bazaar’s top beauty products.

ANR works on all ages of skin because it doesn’t just reduce the signs of ageing, it actually aids the natural nighttime renewal to give more hydrated and smoother skin. You shouldn’t be worried by the fact that this is an anti-aging product, all this means is that it targets the signs of aging (lines, wrinkles, dryness dullness), these will vary depending on your age and skin type. It will help even if you are, for example, in your late 20s but are starting to worry about the dullness of your skin and will also act as a prevention for lines, wrinkles and dryness.

Basically the serum works in conjunction with your skin to help repair the damages done during the day. Ingredients include hyaluronic acid for locking in moisture, algae and yeast extracts to boost cell activity and alkyl guanine transferase to brighten. It slows the effects of ageing, reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and evens out skin tone, so in the morning even if your skin isn’t exactly glowing, it will look rested, like you’ve had a good night’s sleep. It can’t be described as organic but look out for my post discussing natural v synthetic products.

It is relatively expensive at £52 for 30ml, £72 for 50ml and £88 for 75ml, but I got my latest one in the Estée Lauder 2016 Christmas gift set which is always a good buy ( £340.00 worth of products for £58.00 when purchased with a fragrance; including ANR, 2 full size lipsticks and 2 lip glosses, full size mascara, cleanser, moisturiser, deluxe eyeshadow & blusher palette and travel case)

The current product is actually version 2.0 and was updated in 2013, but the original formula was around for a whopping 31 years, first launching in 1982. New generation products can be a bit of a worry but fortunately this version is better than ever, it’s a much lighter formulation, it’s oil and fragrance free.

Estee Lauder’s website quotes test results on over 500 women as having the following results: Lines and wrinkles look significantly reduced. More than 75% of women felt their skin looked more youthful. Skin feels smoother, hydrated, stronger. 82% felt their skin was instantly hydrated. Skin looks younger, radiant, more even toned. 83% of women felt their skin looked healthier, fresher, more rested.

I try all sorts of new ‘wonder products’ including serums but this is my desert island product if you will, hence the 5/5 rating.  TRY, TRY, TRY,
