What is it? Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask is an overnight leave-on lip mask which soothes and moisturises for smoother, more supple lips. It contains a “Berry Mix Complex” of vitamin C and antioxidants and a “Moisture Wrap” technology which consists of hyaluronic acid and minerals to form a protective film over the lips to lock in moisture and active ingredients and has an eight hour time release system. It does not contain Parabens or Phthalates. The Lip Sleeping Mask effectively melts away dead skin cells. It’s available in 4 flavours: berry, grapefruit, apple lime and vanilla.
Who is it for? Anyone who is finding a lip balm just isn’t a strong enough solution to dry, chapped or flaky lips. It’s also useful as a treat for anyone who wears lip makeup regularly. The product is dermatologist tested and recommended for all skin types. Laneige state they do not test ingredients or products on animals.
How do you use it? Using the applicator supplied, apply generously to the lips in the evening and leave on overnight. Gently wipe off or cleanse in the morning.
What’s the damage? I paid £14.50 from Amazon – £9.51 for the product and £4.99 for postage (it did come from Korea).
This is my first foray into the much publicised area of Korean skincare; I’d heard good things about this product and I do constantly feel like my lips are dry, so I decided to start with this lip mask. Laneige are one of the fastest growing brands in the Far East and their ethos is based on moisturisation using local mineral waters – “over time the skin loses its ability to hold moisture, which in turn leads to damage and ageing. If cells can be helped to hold onto moisture, then youthful, glowing skin can be achieved”.
I chose the Berry flavour as I am a bit of a sucker for berry flavouring and I love the smell. This isn’t a highly scented product by any means but I know some people don’t like any fragrance at all. I really like the little applicator that comes with it, you just put some product on the lips using the applicator and leave on overnight, then cleanse off the remnants in the morning.
I’ve been trying to decide how to describe the feel of the product when you apply it. I suppose it’s a bit like putting a wax over your lips. It doesn’t just feel like a moisturiser, you definitely get the feeling that there’s a protective layer on top as well. I usually wake up with dry lips, especially at the moment with the central heating, but this product has definitely lessened that sensation by about 90%. I will continue to use this product on a daily basis for the rest of winter and then may drop down to every other night, unless we get a really hot summer (haha) and I need the daily boost.
