L’Oreal Revitalift Centella Repair Cica Cream – Will this stay in my skincare routine?

L’Oreal Revitalift Centella Repair Cica Cream – Will this stay in my skincare routine?

What is it? Revitalift Cica Anti Wrinkle Centella Repair Cream is a “recovery” cream which hydrates, corrects wrinkles, restores elasticity and repairs the skin barrier.

Who is it for? Suitable for sensitive skin and even though it is marketed as an anti-wrinkle cream I would suggest it could be used if you are worrying about other issues such as mild redness (see my comments below).

How do you use it? Apply to cleansed face and neck every morning (and evening if desired) in circular motions. I don’t find it moisturising enough so I use it on a morning and then put a moisturiser on top.

What’s the damage? £12.99 but it is on offer in a lot of places for half price at the moment (Boots/Superdrug etc)

L’Oreal Paris Revitalift Cicacrem contains Centella Asiatica which has been used for centuries in Chinese medicine and also, as you will know if you’ve seen the advert, by tigers in the wild who roll onto the plant to aid wound recovery.  Centella is  rich in amino acids, beta carotene, fatty acids, and numerous potent phytochemicals, it’s been found to calm inflammation, speed wound healing, stimulate new cell growth, build collagen, and improve circulation. However, this plant isn’t just limited to the Far East, in Britain it is known as Pennywort and was used as a treatment for leprosy and in 1800s France it was a cure-all from dysentery to infertility.  Anyway, enough of the history lesson and back to 2017!

The cream is designed to target wrinkles, soothe tightness and restore the skin’s barrier.  I’ve used it for several weeks now and was going to give up on it because it wasn’t providing any moisturising effects and I couldn’t see a difference with fine lines or wrinkles BUT yesterday morning when I went to apply the usual extra-strong concealer to the broken veins around my nose and on my chin I noticed that they seemed slightly faded (I am obsessed by these veins which according to friends and family only I can see, so believe me I know when they have slightly changed colour).

I have been using the cream as more of a serum role for the last week and putting a moisturiser over the top which has made it a lot more comfortable for me and counteracted the tight dry feeling. However, given the positive effects on my broken veins I am going to up my usage to twice daily and I can see Centella Repair Cream becoming a staple part of my skin care.
