Monsieur Big Mascara by Lancôme – Not just for Christmas!

What is it? Monsieur Big Mascara by Lancôme

Who is it for? If you want very black looking lashes and are happy using a fairly bulky wand this is for you. It’s not a mascara for a ‘natural’ look.

How do you use it? Easy to use, just layer away. It depends on the look you’re going for, from adding a bit of curl, colour and volume to going for a full false lash effect.

What’s the damage? £21

Lancôme have long been known for excellent mascara, think multi award winner Définicils, so their new mascara on the block has created a bit of a stir. I’ve no idea why they went with the name, a weird mixture of French and English, however, if the product is good I can get past the name.

The wand is quite bulky and is a mixture of short and long bristles to reach all the lashes. I personally like a sturdy wand, I find them easier to use and manoeuvre. The mascara is described as creamy by Lancôme and therefore easier to glide on, providing a look of up to 12X more volume. This mascara can be layered up to provide a fake lash effect, I have very fine short lashes and I find two coats are just right for daytime use and then I can go a little bit more dramatic on an evening. This will be great for the Christmas parties.

This mascara doesn’t clump on application and it lasted all day without me having my usual panda eyes. However, I think that’s because of the creamy formula. A lot of mascaras go very dry and then I find myself rubbing my eyes, which hasn’t happened with this one.

The big tester for me though is how easily does a mascara come off? Due to it’s staying power I was concerned that this might be difficult to remove but I couldn’t be more wrong. I used an oil based micellar water on a cotton wool pad and it cleansed off very easily.

Monsieur Big is a definite addition to my makeup bag, not just for Christmas but for all year.
