Oribe Après Beach Wave and Shine Spray. Brilliant for hair with a natural curl.

What is it? Oribe Après Beach Wave and Shine Spray is a light holding spray designed to swell the hair shaft and give tousled, loose waves, whilst adding shine to the hair without any salty stiffness or stickiness usually associated with these sort of products. The formula comprises a texturising ‘beach wave complex’ which includes wheat protein and vitamin B5 to repair damage.  Alongside this, there’s  a complex blend of oils and plant extracts, including watermelon, lychee and edelweiss flower, safflower seed oil, marigold flower extract and amber extract,to protect hair from the elements, avoid the deterioration of natural keratin and keep the hair soft and silky.

Who is it for? Suitable for all hair types, but personally I think you need to have a natural wave/curl in your hair for this to work.  It’s Paraben and Sodium Chloride-free, contains UV protection and is Keratin treatment and colour-safe (see full ingredients list below).

How do you use it? Shake the bottle, spray on wet or dry hair, tousle with fingers and leave to air dry.

What’s the damage? £36 – 300ml

I wasn’t over impressed when I received a trial size of Oribe Après Beach Wave and Shine Spray in one of my monthly beauty boxes; in an earlier blog I reviewed Oribe’s dry texturising spray and I wasn’t too keen on it.  However, as you know, I’m taking a break from straightening my hair and so last week I found the trial bottle and gave it a go.  I have to say I was blown away, this product is amazing on my hair. I applied it to dry (curly) hair and just scrunched my hair a bit; the waves looked sleeker and the look lasted all day.  I think it works so well because I do have a natural curl.

I ordered a full size of the product which arrived a day after the trial size ran out.  So for that one day I tried a salt spray (another product from a beauty box) and my hair looked terrible, so stiff, and felt awful.  I had wondered if the Oribe spray was worth the money, but for me it definitely is.  Also, just a quick comment on the packaging, it’s lovely and luxurious, it makes the product feel special.
