The Japanfusion range. My first foray into J Beauty.

The Japanfusion range. My first foray into J Beauty.

We’ve all been hearing about how amazing Korean skincare products are, but Japanese skincare is also becoming a force to be reckoned with in our western beauty regimes.  The Korean beauty trend is known for including lots of steps such as an essence and an ampoule (a concentration of many active ingredients to treat a concern), then toner, moisturiser, SPF, eye cream and lots of sheet masks.  A Japanese beauty routine involves applying fewer products in light layers, the focus being on hydration.

I’ve been trialling the Japanfusion range from Beauty Pie (watch out for my upcoming blog covering my experiences with beauty boxes and online retailers such as Beauty Pie).  It includes a cleanser plus a 3 step collection of moisture boosting products, all suitable for sensitive skins and presented in lovely, simple, classy packaging.

The Japanfusion range is built around the following ingredients:

  • Jabara extract, an antioxidant ingredient harvested from the Japanese citrus fruit, rich in Vitamin C and polyphenols, this helps to keep free radicals from aging the look of your face.
  • Delamyth DNA+, an extract from the peels of the Delaware grape, which helps soothe the skin and counteracts UV-related free radical damage (especially UVB), it also has antioxidant properties
  • Vitamin E – for antioxidant protection and deep skin moisturization

As usual I’ve put the ingredient information below, there’s rather a lot!

The routine starts with Japanfusion Pure Transforming Cleanser (regular price £25, members pay – £5.72) which is a gel to oil to milk cleansing balm.  It changes it’s consistency on contact with water. It removes makeup, oils and pollution and doesn’t leave any residue. I use this on an evening as the main cleanse after removing my makeup with a magnitone cloth, it works really well with my Foreo.

After cleansing I generally use a toner, such as Pixi Glow Tonic, and three times a week I apply retinol.  I then move on to the 3 step moisture programme.

Step 1 – Japanfusion Hydra Prep Lotion – regular price  £25, members pay £5.82

I’m still a bit bemused by this product because I’ve never used anything like it before, it’s got the consistency of milky water and apparently works like a magnet for your moisturiser. I put some on a cotton pad and then apply all over my face and neck.

Step 2 – Japanfusion Deep Treatment Serum – regular price £75, members price £7.88

This is a lovely serum, it’s easy to apply and soaks in at just the right level, what I mean by that is it doesn’t just disappear and your skin feels dry again, but also it doesn’t take ages to soak in.  A little goes a long way.

Step 3 – Japanfusion Supreme Cream – regular price £100, members price £10.08

This is a thick luxurious moisturising cream.  I probably apply it rather too liberally as I paid the member’s price rather than £100!

So what’s my conclusion after using the products every evening for a couple of months?  Well, my skin definitely feels and looks really nourished, I struggle to hold onto moisture these days so any help is appreciated. The three moisturising products obviously complement each other.  If I didn’t have a beauty blog and thereby spend my free time trying lots of products, then I’m sure these would become my go to night time regime, especially at the reduced rates on Beauty Pie.
