What is it? The Ordinary’s Coverage Foundation is a range of full coverage foundation available in 21 shades from very fair to very deep, with each classified according to its undertone. ‘P’ shades stand for pink undertones, ‘R’ for red, ‘N’ for neutral and ‘Y’ for yellow, to make it easier to identify your perfect match. Three of the shades have an S or a G at the end, S for Silver highlights and G for Gold; these shades use natural-looking, very fine dispersions of metallic effect pigments for added highlight.
The formula also offers SPF 15 mineral sun protection, to protect as it perfects your complexion. Texturally it’s a lightweight non-oily cream with a smooth finish to try and avoid the heavy makeup look which can make skin appear older than it is.
Who is it for? Suitable for all skin types. It’s free from water, alcohol, oil, silicone, nuts, gluten and soy, and it’s cruelty free. (Full ingredients list at the bottom of the page.)
How do you use it? Shake the bottle before use. Dispense a small amount onto your hand, then smooth on and blend throughout the face, start at the middle of the face and work outwards.
What’s the damage? £5.90

There’s a bit of controversy surrounding the founder of Deciem (parent company of The Ordinary) at the moment, which proves how careful you have to be on social media and probably why companies should use a media team; but I’m just going to concentrate on the fact that they do amazing products at a very affordable price point.
Firstly, £5.90 for a foundation! Even though I know The Ordinary products are inexpensive I still didn’t expect a lot from a foundation at this price. I went for the Light with Pink Undertones; I bought mine in the shop so I was able to try various colours to ensure I got the correct shade. However, it’s cheap enough so that if you order online and the colour is not quite right, you can order another colour and mix them up. It’s got a pump dispenser but this turns to lock, so you don’t have to worry about spillage.
It’s a decent foundation for everyday use, it doesn’t dry my skin out at all. I’ve tried putting it on using my fingers and a foundation brush but it works better for me when I use a blending sponge and put my concealer on first. It doesn’t sit in my lines and wrinkles but I always use a primer. The foundation lasts quite a few hours, it does start to wear off by mid afternoon, but show me a foundation that stays exactly the same all day! It’s marketed as a full coverage foundation but I would personally class it as more of a mid-coverage which is actually fine by me.
If you want an inexpensive foundation and don’t mind topping up your product during your lunch break, then I would recommend this.
